The Chamber Board Welcomes Two New Business Members to the Board
Connie Duke, owner of “Strikes My Fancy” and Jim Hurt, owner of “The Smith House” are the newest members to the Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce Board. We would like to celebrate their joining us by telling you more about the incredible businesses they run in Crosbyton.
At “Strikes My Fancy,” Connie greets you at the door. She describes the eclectic shop as “something for everybody”, modeled on her favorite store. Connie carries antiques, shabby chic decor, and vintage items. The inclusion of a clothing Boutique was the finishing piece. She would like everyone to know that although the furniture and home decor are gently used pieces, all of the clothing is new. As Connie combs the markets and estate sales, she tries to think of everyone. She even has a corner of antique and vintage finds for men.
Connie is looking forward to the US Hwy 62/82 Yard Sales on June 13, 2015. She says it is a crazy day for her, but it has given her many customers that return to the shop from outside the trade area. On Saturday, May 30, 2015, “Strikes My Fancy” will celebrate its second year with an open house for all. You can find the shop at 515 West Main Street in Crosbyton, Texas. It is open from 10:30 a.m. to 5;00 p.m. , Tuesday through Friday. For more information contact Connie at 806-675-1530.
Jim Hurt is the owner and manager of the Smith House, a Bed & Breakfast located on West Aspen Street in Crosbyton, Texas. In truth, Jim is more than just the owner. Like Frank and Minnie Smith who built the Smith House Hotel in 1921, Jim is an owner, manager, and chief cook and dish washer. He is also a welcoming face to visitors in Crosbyton. Jim’s work in human resources in the corporate world gave him the kind of people knowledge and old fashioned skills to run the sprawling Inn. The Smith House has twelve rooms, including a guest suite with two bedrooms and a living area. Jim recommends phoning ahead for reservations as some seasons of the year are very busy. He would also like ex-Crosbytonites to know that if they would like to stay at the Smith House during the Jubilee, they should make reservations now. Give Jim a call for great hospitality and experience the charm and grace of another era at the Smith House.
