Black History Month Observance in Crosbyton, Texas
Crosbyton hosted an observance of Black History Month with a gathering of inspirational speakers and musicians on Saturday, February 9th at 2:00 p.m. at the Prairie Ladies Inn. The event was the organizational work of Ms. Lillian Moore and her daughter, Debbie Moore. The room was filled to capacity, as a great crowd turned out to support the celebration.
The theme for the event was “Footprints of the Past”. The Mistress of Ceremonies, Gail Johnson, kicked off the event by introducing organizer, Ms. Lillian Moore, who brought a welcome and an opening prayer. Debbie Moore provided a presentation on black history. Next, there was an introduction by Charles Gonzales of the band, UGP, Under God’s Protection. The full band hales from Lorenzo, and provided beautiful music throughout the program. Two talks were given, and included Charles Frater – “Another Chance” and Sherry Badger – “A Way of Escape”, both of Crosbyton. The featured guest speaker was Superintendent Christopher S. Moore of Lubbock. The event concluded with a meal.
